2. Is bleeding normal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your surgical site can ooze blood for up to 72 hours after your surgery. Your dentist in Richardson will place gauze at the surgical site to help control the bleeding before you leave. You\u2019ll need to continue to bite on the pads for the 1st<\/sup> hour after your procedure. To ensure bleeding doesn\u2019t begin again, it\u2019s best to avoid any vigorous spitting or rinsing. 4. Can I eat?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your mouth will be a bit tender for a few days, so you\u2019ll want to stick to a soft diet for at least 24 hours. You\u2019ll want to avoid drinking anything through a straw for at least the first 1-2 days. As your pain subsides, you can incorporate harder foods into your diet; however, avoid anything that\u2019s sharp or crunchy to prevent injury to the healing surgical site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Will my recovery be painful?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As with any surgery, there will be some discomfort, but you can manage it using an over-the-counter pain reliever. After 5-7 days, your pain should be improving. If it\u2019s worsening, it\u2019s time to call your dentist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
